... using the latest Sketchy Thursday sketch and journalling inspired by this post.
The light is fadin here so the colours look a bit more washed out than they are IRL.

A card a day ...
... I've always thought I should make more of an effort with card making. Not because I go out and buy shop cards (as an ex-Phoenix Card Trader I have a pile of cards I'm working though) but because I have plenty of stash to play with!
I'm not a natural card make though and always love reading Kool Kitty's Musings as Nat makes card making look so effortless with fantastic results!
A little while ago she posted that she had bought this book and so on her recommendation I've got myself a copy and will start playing along with the challenges posted on UKS. So this is today's card -"Be Yourself Flower" - Inspiration: Kraft card blank, stamped greeting, die-cut/punched flower, felt/fabric. I've lifted the card design from the book.
I can't promise that I will make a card a day, but I do hope to improve my card making output!!
Yeah, and another ...

Struggling to scrap ....
... since the start of the new year, I've had very little inclination to scrap. I think it's due to being distracted by other crafts (such as making yo-yo brooches for the school's Mother's Day Present Room) but also by the fact that my Scarlet Lime kits have not been turning up in a timely fashion.December and January's kit had been sat untouched when February's turned up this week (along with a missing project kit). So I knew that unless I cut into it straight away I was in danger of having the kits pile up. So armed with a photo, challenge from The Studio and sketch from Studio Calico I got stuck in. The challenge was to create a LO about being a boy and what you might miss out on - the title reads Glad to be a Girl.

Not scrapping but ...
... making invites for my cousin's summer wedding. I've spent the last couple of days doing the final assembly - sticking in inserts and fluffing up handtied bows. The wedding colours are a secret, so you'll have to make do with a b&w photo! Why is it you have to do things like this standing up?? Now my back is aching!

Mom 2.0: Defining A Movement...
... I just read this on a blog I have recently been following - Posy - and wanted to share it here.
Here are the words:
WHAT I WOULD TELL HER: (If I knew what to say.)
You are a miracle.
And I have to love you this fiercely: So that you can feel it even after you leave for school, or even while you are asleep, or even after your childhood becomes a memory.
You’ll forget all this when you grow up. But it’s okay.
Being a mother means having your heart broken.
And it means loving and losing and falling apart and coming back together.
And it’s the best there is. And also, sometimes, the worst.
Sometimes you won’t have anyone to talk to.
Sometimes you’ll wonder if you’ve forgotten who you are.
But you must remember this: What you’re doing matters.
And you have to be brave with your life so that others can be brave with theirs.
The truth is, being a woman is a gift. Tenderness is a gift. Intimacy is a gift. And nurturing the good in this world is a nothing short of a privilege.
That’s why I have to love you this way. So I can give what I have to you. So that you can carry it in your body and pass it on.
I have watched you sleep. I’ve kissed you a million times. And I know something that you don’t, yet:
You are writing the story of your only life every single minute of every day.
And my greatest hope for you, sweet child, is that I can teach you how to write a good one.
