... I was here

marrying him

in this wonderful setting

on an island in South Devon My dad and stepmum offered amazing generosity and hospitality hosting a weekend house party at Burgh Island. We were fortunate to have the hotel to ourselves for the whole weekend, I felt so lucky and very much the princess!

Being there for the weekend meant that we had a relaxing afternoon on the Friday meeting our guests as they arrived. The evening was then a 1920s style fancy dress party complete with live jazz band. Our guests did us proud with their outfits and truely entered into the swing of it.

Steve and me

Mum and me

I can't believe that was 10 years ago. So much has happened in that time - the arrival of my beautiful girls and the loss of my darling mum.

Through all the tears of sadness and happiness Steve has been there and I'm so glad that we made a committment to each other on that day. The transition from singleton to wife and mum hasn't been without its difficulties, but ten years on we continue to work through
any problems that we have and I'm proud of our achievements together. We have shared some amazing experiences and I am blessed with wonderful memories.

Steve - thank you for the last 10 years and here's to the next! I love you x

The Studio challenges ...

... there's been a few changes over at The Studio recently. They've got lots of great challenges and inspiration, so check it out.

It's been a while since I did a colour challenge so this was great fun (although I've no idea that blooger has done to the colours on my LO!!)

My first LO of Lord Mod (that's his kennel name!) I've used a B&W photo or though you wouldn't know it to help blend with the colours of the LO. I also did a rare bit of painting!

Edit: I've had a play around with the LO photo and now the colours are a bit more true to life.

Three cheery cards ....

... made yesterday, wasn't it gloomy??!!

I gave the middle one to Steve for Valentine's Day. As it's his birthday at the beginning of February and our Anniversary at the end, Valentine's Day is becoming less and less celebrated in our house.

Shimelle's Sketch of the Week ...

... I was going through my old scrapbook kits and came across an old Scrapbook Circle kit that I had had as a one off. I really loved this kit and am so tempted to subscribe to it. I know it's wrong, when there's a tonne of stash to use up, but I think receiving new stash each month does help the mojo!!

Have used Shimelle's sketch here:

joy of love: day 02 : how they look ...

... the 'what's in the garden' look.

The weather is not great here today and by the time the girls got home there wasn't much light, so I'm going to leave their photos for today's prompt until another day.

I'm struggling with the aperature setting on my bridge camera, I'm getting better results with the portrait programme. Think I need to digest the camera manual more!

4x6 photo love ...

... Shimelle is running a monthly class over on Two Peas:

"Welcome to a new class for 2011, 4x6 Photo Love! Each month, we'll be scrapping 4x6 prints, but with a twist: in January, we'll look at designs with one photo. In February, two photos, and so on until December's project takes us through a dozen 4x6 prints!

This month we're scrapping a single 4x6 photo with a loose line of embellishments. "

So here you go:

I scrapped this in one sitting!

joy of love: day 01 ...

... since getting my bridge camera Xmas 2009 I haven't come off auto much. I had started to get the hang of manual with the DSLR but felt I wanted a smaller camera to tote around. So although I'm generally pleased with the results I get out of the bridge, I do think I can do better.

So I thought the Joy of Love free 28 day workshop by Kelly Willette might encourage me to do better whilst getting more photos to scrap! You can still sign up to get the daily email prompts.

The first prompt is 'what they do'. So I've taken a picture of Lily doing her homework. I'm not entirely happy with the picture. The colours were very orange without the flash and of course with a flash I got shadows. So I took one of the flash photos and converted it to B&W to disguise the shadow a bit. I like the way it shows her concentrating and holding her pencil correctly (one of her goals!!)

I think I'm going to try to take photos of both of the girls each day, so I've got a record for each.
