Circles and squares ...

... after mastering rows it was time to move onto circles! My 10 year old sister had asked me to make her this bag (her colour choice!) that she saw in the book I'd bought - Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller. I can definitely recommend this book for beginners, the technique section is fab!
Next, granny squares. After making a sample square I decided to carry on and now there is a blanket in the making. I've got some chocolate wool on order to go with this duck egg blue - love that combo.
Decided to sketch out some combo designs and also a template for stitching the blanket together. 9 squares made - another 40 to do!!
In scrapping news, I have actually pulled some photos out which are now sat on my craft desk. Just need to get inspired to pull out some paper and then I might actually make a LO.

Ha! Crochet Squares. My dear Grandma taught me how to crochet these squares. She used to buy old wool sweaters, wash them, cut off the body below the arms, also the sleeves, remove any dirty or really tatty parts, then roll the good yarn into balls for re-use. She made lots of crochet stuff, but especially dolls' clothes and blankets. I made a load of these squares, intending to do an afghan for my baby niece. She is now grown up - I never did finish the blanket! In fact, I think those squares are still around somewhere...
I'm part-way through a baby blanket, in a sort-of wave pattern, made by increasing and decreasing within the rows, so eachg row has bends in it. It's rather pretty. One day I may even finish the blanket! If I get myself organised, I could give it to my now-grown-up niece for her baby!
Love the blue bag. Wonder how you made it... will have to peer at it hard, to work it out!
Happy Hooking!
